mall and department store photography bordering on the obsessive.
Always liked the uniqueness of the design of this store
Didnt they use to have the older Nordstrom logo on this store?
cantnot: It was one of the more articulated store designs Nordstrom has ever done. It's still a flagship location, though the Pentagon City store is just as nice.ct36: The signs were changed at some point. They may have changed twice, as I think the original logo used here was the lowercase one they used to have in the '80s.
They did, in fact, open with the lower case 1980s logo. This store was the first on the east coast when it opened (with much fanfare - and much trepadation from Garfinckel's) in 1988.
I guess Nordstrom did overlap with Garfinckel's for a few years. probably was the last nail in the coffin for them. Back in the day, Nordstrom was really incredible.
